This sculpture collection is meticulously handcrafted by Big Sky Carvers artists based on founder Marc Pierce's own life experiences. Each piece comes with a copy of the story written by Marc, from which it was inspired:

"All elk hunting is good, but backcountry elk hunting with horses, wall tents and total isolation is really good. It is a convergence of all things cowboy and all things hunter. Life is hard here, but it's simple. You take care of your animal, your gear and your firewood. Shooting an elk is a bonus because the experience is more about being there and doing things in the same way they've been done for generations. You and a horse, miles in on land owned by the public and available to anyone, but accessible only to those who have the drive and determination to make it happen. Weather is a huge variable in the high country and when old man winter gets cranky, it may be time to get the heck out."
